Laura Cumings

Laura is a popular fitness instructor and personal trainer who has been teaching various forms of exercise on the Connecticut shoreline for the past 20 years. Her teaching experience spans the ages from kindergarten to seniors, from one-on-one to group classes. Her exercise expertise includes Boot Camp Training, Speed and Agility, Spin, Strength and Conditioning and the past 10 years in Pilates.

Laura has been called “The Pilates Whisperer” by some of her clients because her training style is to educate her clientele in the “how-to” and “why” a particular exercise is done. “I like using visual cues to help you to perform the exercise more efficiently and effectively. That makes for a better understanding of the “mind-body connection.”

“In the past 10 years of teaching and practicing Pilates I appreciate how Pilates emphasizes quality over quantity. Pilates is a philosophy of connections. The concept is more about the quality of the performance of each rep rather then the quantity of reps for each exercise that is important. Plus, Pilates is a whole lot of fun!”
